Alisa Be - winner for the 2017 David John Ruggiero Award

Alisa Bé completed her PhD in English at the University of Miami in 2016. She specializes in nineteenth-century British literature and culture. She received her BA in English and International Relations from Flinders University in Australia, MA in English Language and Literature from Pusan National University in South Korea, and a second MA in English from the University of Miami. She has completed her dissertation entitled “Women’s Participation in the Political Public Sphere: Redefining the Form of Narrative Satire, 1790-1880.”  Her current book project explores the relationship between women’s participation in the political public sphere and their use of narrative satire from the 1790s to the 1870s.
